apparently my account's been "Banned Until 8/25/2011 3:46:00 PM US EST" according to the login screen. email received as
"Your Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach account has been suspended as a result of a confirmed Player Code of Conduct violation.
This suspension is for 14 days .
Specifically, a Game Master determined that you have continued receiving platinum or items from individuals involved in unauthorized selling activities. The Player Code of Conduct that you agreed to upon installing and accessing our service clearly indicates that "... 11. You may not advertise the intent to, commit the act of, or facilitate the ability of others to commit the act of unauthorized selling or buying of Game items for real-world monetary values or other consideration."
We sincerely appreciate and value the commitment every player in our community makes to the game, but actions that support the presence and activity of unauthorized gold sellers, farmers, account hackers, and spammers affects significantly more than the individual players involved. These actions encourage:
- The continued harassment and spamming of unauthorized services to all players who wish to enjoy the game and not be subject to these messages.
- Account hacking and compromise of your fellow player's accounts.
- The continued utilization of valuable support resources that take away from assisting legitimate game issues.
Ultimately, they unbalance various aspects of the game that adversely affect every player.
You can find more information regarding the associated policy at the following URL: http://support.turbine.com
Our ultimate goal is to provide an appropriately safe, fun, and engaging experience for our entire player community. To that end, the Player Code of Conduct must be enforced.
If you have any information that you feel would alter the decision made in this action, please visit http://turbine.com/support, and follow the links to the In-Game Support help page to submit your appeal. Note that all account actions are taken only after a significant amount of research and verification is performed to ensure proper Code of Conduct enforcement. In addition, if you have received a temporary suspension, it will expire automatically - you do not need to contact us to have a temporary suspension removed at its conclusion.

What actually happens (my end): the basics is that I use IGXE to support myself in-game, as various shit's bloody expensive (e.g. ToD boot mats, massive amounts of essences) that I don't have time or energy to farm continually for. I make money, I spend money, I gets money.
What I think happened (game/dev's end): some of the dumbfuckers in trade chat got trolled for being dumbfuckers and they complained. Then when DDO devs reviewed my record, they figure out I get income in-game from other than selling shit in-game, occasionally.
Thus, their points:
"(1)- The continued harassment and spamming of unauthorized services to all players who wish to enjoy the game and not be subject to these messages.
(2)- Account hacking and compromise of your fellow player's accounts.
(3)- The continued utilization of valuable support resources that take away from assisting legitimate game issues.
(4)- Ultimately, they unbalance various aspects of the game that adversely affect every player. "
to which my replies:
1 - bullshit. spam mail goes into the uncategorized of the in-game inbox.
2 - bullshit. if you're dumb enough to get hacked, you deserve it.
3 - bullshit. there's damn near no support aside from forums to assist legit game issues as it is.
4 - bullshit. if anything, very few players are affected, and those generally positively.
the dev's attempts at morality aside, I pay to play the game as I desire, not to get banned temporarily for spending money as I desire. They do this again, I'm cancelling again (before which I'd be dumping everything not bound to acct/toon on the guild, money included). Let's hope they don't decide to go that way.

For the time being, I also will be taking a little break. Senior year is kicking my butt, and I'm playing the game of catchup instead of the much more fun DDO. :(
Things should be less hectic by the end of the November/early Decemberish when I will have taken my GRE, finished the 80 hours required for my internship (and the 15 page paper that comes along with it) and *hopefully* sent out all my grad school applications.
Hopefully I'll get into a PhD program for the upcoming Fall semester and be on my way to becoming a therapist. Free sessions for guildies? :P
